They’re approaching from the side of the front door, so they don’t have to pass by the living room window, thankfully. She can’t feel the mask right now, it must sit too well, or maybe it’s because she doesn’t see what she would have to play. Actually, she does, she has to keep telling her drac that no, she can’t go wolf and sniff at everything… much as she’d like to. But that’s about it; everything else is, oh, is how she always dreamed about it. With her papa there, and even better, Daddy and Arthur, too!

Several hours of research in the library don’t lead to much in results, though. Most of the books about demons the library gives them are collections of folk tales or horror stories- and some notable old Church treatises about witchcraft in Latin. Given how they want to murder anyone who can do magic and the dubious signs they list of how to recognize a witch, Arthur’s not sure how much he should believe them when it comes to demons.

It’s just all too much. Seeing John so much in the adventure and not being close reminds her too much of what she can’t have. And yes, her mother called her silly for that. Last night after the pirate adventure, Darcy thought of partying some more with Arthur, but Gregory wasn’t anywhere she could find him and Arthur wasn’t in the library, so she thought they must be out and doing things you do with a best friend. Is that what she misses John as?

Arthur finds himself laughing as he ducks bits of bone flying from where Darcy has a skeleton’s pelvis in her jaws and is destroying the thing by vigorously shaking her head. “Guess no one accounted for us bringing a wolf to a battle with the undead!”

He proceeds to tell the tale as best as he can, except he swaps the wolf and the hunter around- which begs the question why the hunter would pretend to be her grandma, and the best he can come up with is to kidnap the girl. Also, it makes the three questions awkward- the hands he can leave big at the end, and for one of the other one he swaps in why grandma’s cheeks are so hairy (so she can better cuddle her), and… why are her legs so long (so she can better run after her)…
