Having led them down the corridor after closing the door very softly behind them, Quincy crosses his arms and tries not to show that he really doesn’t want to be here in front of his father. Although, upon another glare, is his father nervous? It’s small, the signs of his emotions are well guarded but, well, Quincy did spend a bloody month fawning over Basarab and trying to learn all his little tells.

Uncertain what to talk about, Vlad sits silently for a few minutes until he feels he can hear the awkwardness in the air as clearly as he can hear Arthur’s heartbeat. “Would you mind if I take a look at the library? If it is not too much of an imposition.”

It’s not exactly a comfortable dinner, what with Gregory saying he’s not hungry and instead pacing around the kitchen until Quincy snaps at him to sit down. Arthur thinks maybe the house is trying to cheer him up, because it gives him a bowl of thick, warm stew, but good food isn’t quite enough to take his mind off of the fact that they’re waiting for not just any vampire, but the one Art and Dr Seward had a bad encounter with already, while Darcy is with another one who’s apparently insane, of all things.

He loves his girl’s totally whacked-out mind, but sometimes, just sometimes, it can be a pain in the arse.

“Hey Artie, what’s up?” Gregory asks, chipper and happy like… like there isn’t a crisis on, and Arthur feels a hot flash of anger lash through him.
“Where the fuck’d you come from?!” is out of his mouth before he realizes: Wait, what, no, he should be relieved that Gregory is alright… shouldn’t he? The heat is still bubbling at the back of his throat. “Where did you go? There’s a crisis going on!”

Darcy insists they also get John, for protection. Arthur’s not sure about that, but then, how good are any of them against a vampire? So if they’re being reckless, they might as well all be reckless together, he supposes, and tries not to listen to the voice in the back of his head that points out that wouldn’t it be better for some of them to survive if not all of them do?

This didn’t go as Quincy had intended it to. And he is not okay with that!
First Cobb vanishes for most of the day, and then he shows up for the most inept ‘checking in’ Quincy has ever seen. He doesn’t even really make it fully through the checking in about, yes, Quincy’s supposed father just died in front of his eyes, before he’s off on a tangent about his own terrible life and how he lost his father, too.
